The Way You Speak Is Telling on You
You can tell a lot about a man by the way he talks. And if you’re being honest with yourself, you already know this. When someone hears you speak, they immediately assess your discipline, your self-respect, and your level of refinement. Like it or not, your words expose your standard.
Let this marinate for a second: I can tell by the way you talk that you’re not even close to being a gentleman.
That judgment doesn’t come from thin air. It shows up when you’re ill-mannered, careless with your tone, or lazy with your vocabulary. It shows when you mispronounce common words, swallow syllables, or fail to articulate your thoughts clearly. In short, it shows when you’re inarticulate and display little to no mastery of the English language.
Language Is a Signal of Status
If English isn’t your native tongue, grace is extended. Effort matters. Progress matters. But if English is your native language and you’re still communicating like you’re in middle school, then let’s be real – you have work to do.
Because what this communicates to others is simple: you haven’t put in the reps. You haven’t refined yourself. You haven’t elevated your standard.
And here’s the truth most men avoid – there isn’t one authentic gentleman walking around relying on an eighth-grade lexicon. Not one. A gentleman understands that words carry weight. He enunciates. He chooses his language with intention. He speaks clearly because clarity signals competence.
Elevation Requires Ownership
This isn’t about being pretentious or trying to sound smarter than you are. It’s about respect – for yourself and for the people listening to you. When you communicate well, doors open. People listen longer. Opportunities show up.
You don’t become a gentleman by accident. You become one by deciding that “good enough” is no longer acceptable.
We’re not saying this to tear you down. We’re saying it because elevation demands honesty. And if you want to move like a true gentleman, the way you communicate is non-negotiable.
